MODULAR SYSTEM
Our FormProtect is a modular PVC formwork system based on the modular system. The "lost formwork" means that it remains on the structure after the concrete has been poured. This means that the reinforced concrete core is perfectly protected inside and out.
With our system formwork we can create tank sizes with diameters of 6 m to 40 m and wall heights of up to 10 m. Due to the solid construction, lateral earth pressure, slope, groundwater and ceiling loads can be calculated statically and do not pose any problems during execution.
The FormProtect® system is the ideal solution for constructing containers that store substances that would attack a conventional concrete container.
In addition, all shaft linings and fittings such as openings, agitators, slide valves, sight glasses, etc. are already taken into account during the planning stage and are therefore quick and easy to install. This saves time and money.
Would you like your container to be directly covered and want to take advantage of other benefits? Then take a look at our FormProtect system.
construction and statics
The high strength and the fine spatial bracing of the plastic elements result in a very pressure-resistant and rigid component in reinforced concrete composite construction.
The main load on the tank wall is caused by the tank filling load case, which essentially only results in ring tensile forces. The general load-bearing behavior of the formwork system with the inserted steel bar reinforcement is comparable to the load-bearing behavior of a wall construction made of prefabricated elements with tendons.
The distance between the horizontally placed reinforcing steel bars can therefore be more than 35 cm. The requirements in DIN 1045 -1:13.7.1 (7) for reinforced concrete walls do not have to be met here.
The formwork system achieves a complete separation between the load-bearing and protective functions of the structure. The plastic formwork becomes part of the building and thus the overall construction consists functionally of three container shells in one wall - the plastic shell inside, the reinforced concrete wall as the core and the plastic shell outside.
The plastic shells alone guarantee tightness, protection against corrosion, protection against chemical attacks and the other protective properties mentioned above. The reinforced concrete structure only performs the load-bearing function.
With the reinforced concrete structure protected on both sides by the plastic shells, the limitation of crack width is not important. Nevertheless, the reinforced concrete core remains essentially crack-free because it cannot dry out.
The walls are constructed with a single layer of horizontal reinforcement made of round steel up to Ø 16 mm.
There is no static connection between the floor slab and the wall. The floor/wall joint is sealed with a joint tape approved by the building authorities.
quality characteristics
The FormProtect® system guarantees an exceptionally high quality improvement for all reinforced concrete products in every respect.
Watertightness: The plastic shell itself is liquid-tight up to a water column of 27 m. The concrete core is protected between two plastic shells. Since it does not dry out, it hardly forms any shrinkage cracks. For this reason, the concrete wall itself also remains watertight.
Gas tightness: The plastic shells are absolutely gas tight, no additional protection is required to ensure the desired gas tightness of the container. The absolute gas tightness of the two plastic shells means that no gas diffusion can take place. Any thermal insulation applied cannot therefore become damp and thus retains its full insulating effect throughout its entire service life.
Corrosion resistance: The double-sided cladding of the reinforced concrete structure guarantees reliable and long-lasting protection against corrosion.
